When you come across pain that prevents you from performing your daily activities, you cannot put it to the side and wait to be treated. Without treatment for your issues, you are lowering your quality of life. You do not want to end up in a position where you can no longer participate in your normal day to day activities. If you are experiencing pain, tingling, and numbness in your hand due to pressure on the median nerve in your wrist, you most likely have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome which can be caused by illness, pregnancy, and even obesity. Our neurosurgeons in at Florida Surgery Consultants can provide you with a correct diagnosis and carpal tunnel treatment.
What Is Carpal Tunnel Release?
During an open carpal tunnel release surgery, the carpal ligament is cut, which will release the pressure on the median nerve and relieve some of your pain with these Carpal Tunnel Syndrome treatments. In order to do this, an incision will be made at the base of the palm and after the ligament is cut, the skin is closed with stitches.
This is an In-Office procedure that takes less than 15 minutes to do. When you choose Florida Surgery Consultants you are choosing the most elite group to perform your Carpal Tunnel Release surgery.
What Is The Recovery?
Our neurosurgeon can provide this carpal tunnel treatment at the Florida Surgery Consultants office. After your surgery is performed, the hand is wrapped. Your stitches will be removed one to two weeks after surgery and the pain and numbness may subside right away or take months to diminish. Try not to pick up heavy objects for about three months after surgery. If you do repeated motions at work such as typing, you will want to stay out of work for about six to eight weeks, but if the surgery was not performed on your dominant hand and you do not need to perform repeated actions at work, you may return as early as seven to fourteen days after the procedure.
